The Account Officer manages day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and petty cash. They ensure compliance with statutory requirements, maintain accurate financial records, support audits, and assist in budget monitoring and financial reporting to help management make informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions, including journals, ledgers, and cashbooks of all departments.
  • Process invoices, payments, and receipts, while monitoring outstanding payables and receivables to ensure timely collections and payments.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure all cash and bank transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Assist in payroll preparation, ensuring accurate calculations, statutory deductions, and timely payment to employees.
  • Prepare and submit statutory reports and remittances, including VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax (WHT), pensions, and other regulatory obligations.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Support budget preparation, track expenditures, and report any variances against approved budgets.
  • Prepare documentation and records for internal and external audits; help implement and maintain effective internal control procedures.
  • Manage petty cash transactions and maintain proper supporting documentation for all disbursements.
  • Ensure organized filing of financial records, maintain proper documentation for financial transactions.

Qualification & Experience

Minimum of HND/B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Professional certification (ICAN, ANAN or ACCA) is an added advantage.

Minimum of 4 years’ experience in accounting or finance (school experience is an advantage).

Strong knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting and Nigerian tax regulations.

Strong Analytical, financial modelling and system thinking skills 

Advance proficiency in Microsoft office, Google workspace and financial reporting tools.
